Sheng Thao

Thao was elected as the 51st Mayor Of Oakland, CA. She is the first Hmong Women to held the Mayor position in the United States.

Prior to being the City of Oakland’s Mayor, Sheng Thao worked in legislation for Oakland City Councilmember as legislative aide. Her family story and life struggles inspired her to get into action; where in 2018, she was elected as City Council Member District 4. Her dedication and commitment to legislation be been seen in the work she does with racial justice, building affordable housing, advocating for low-age workers, and protecting tenants.
